A Note from Mrs. Rankin
College Hills Elementary School
Celebrating the Places You’ll Go And The Things You’ll Learn!
August 2009
Dear College Hills Student,
Welcome to a new school year! The staff of College Hills Elementary is counting down the days until YOU are here! We are excited to share this year of learning, fun and discovery with you… as Dr. Seuss would say, “You’re off to Great Places! You’re off and away!”
The new building is full of new things… new desks, chairs and cafeteria tables; new computers, interactive smart boards and playground equipment. You will forever be able to say, “I was one of the first students to be in the new College Hills.” How cool!
The first day of school is Monday, August 24. The school day begins at 7:50 AM and ends at 3:00 PM.
We are excited to be hosting a "Meet the Teacher" evening on Thursday, August 20, from 5:00-6:00 PM. Class lists will be posted in the building so that you can find out who your teacher is and where your classroom is located. If you are not able to attend that evening, don’t worry! The teachers and staff at College Hills will help you find your classroom on the first day of school. Bring your school supplies if you have them… your teacher will store them for you! The Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) will be on hand to answer questions and provide information. If you ordered school supplies from the PTO, you will be able to pick them up that night.
Please let your parents know that Parent Orientations have been scheduled and that we hope that they will be able to come to them. This is where they will hear from your teacher all of the really great things that you will be learning and doing this year! The schedule is:
Thursday, August 27 Head Start Orientation 12:30 PM
Monday, August 31 Kindergarten Orientation 5:30-6:30 PM
Tuesday, September 1 Grades 1 & 2 Orientation 5:30-6:30 PM
Grades 3 & 4 Orientation 6:30-7:30 PM
And finally, there will be a College Hills Community Open House to celebrate the new building and campus. This will be held on Sunday, August 30, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. More information will be coming home soon!
We are looking forward to a great year with great students (and that includes YOU!) at College Hills Elementary!
Sincerely,
Jane Rankin, Principal
