What is Writing Workshop?
The literacy skills in reading and writing are interrelated and blend together. We will write every day beginning with the first day of school! I will model writing for the students, we will write things together, and they will write independently.
A writing workshop begins with a mini-lesson then students write independently. During the independent time, I will confer with students to help them grow as writers. At the end of the workshop students will be given an opportunity to share with the class or a partner what they have written.
*When your child writes at home if he or she asks how to spell a word, tell them to write down the sounds that they hear. If we start telling them how to spell words, they will continue to rely on us for spelling.
