Team Rules
1. Be in your seat working when the tardy bell rings.
2. Follow directions the first time they are given.
3. Show respect to students, teachers, and property.
4. Wait to be recognized before speaking.
5. Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself.
6. Follow all rules as stated in the Student Handbook.
Consequences for Breaking the Rules
First infraction: warning
Second infraction: 30 minute detention
Third infraction: 45 minute detention, call to parents, and a conduct grade of “N” for the grading period during which the infraction occurred.
All subsequent infractions will be referred to the grade level principal following parent notification. In addition, a conduct grade of “U” will be given during each grading period that an office referral is made. Please note: The record of disciplinary infractions continues all year.
Tardies and materials violations (chronic neglect to bring supplies and/or textbook to class) are handled separately, following the same progression of steps. The record of materials violations continues all year; however, tardies start over at the beginning of the second semester.
Rewards for Good Behavior
Students who consistently display good behavior will be rewarded throughout the year by various methods as determined by the team teachers.
Grading Policy/Retests/Make-up Work
Major work will count two-thirds of the six week grade, and daily work will count one-third. Because Pre-AP Algebra I is a high school credit class, major grades will count as three-fourths of the six weeks grade, and daily work will count as one-fourth.
Daily assignments may be turned in one day late with a 30 poing penalty. No credit will be given for daily assignments more than one day after the due date. No late work is permitted in Algebra. Major grade assignments for all classes, such as projects and essays, may be turned in up to 3 days late but will receive a ten point penalty for each day the assignment is submitted after the original due date.
Test retakes must be taken on or before the day designated by the teacher. Failure to do so will result in retention of the original grade. Test retakes are not allowed in Algebra.
Following an absence, students are responsible for obtaining missed work. Students will be given the number of days missed plus one day to complete make-up work. Failure to do so will result in zeros being given for missed assignments.
Team Liberty teachers strongly encourage our students to seek assistance when help is needed. Both morning and afternoon tutoring can be arranged.
Heading
All papers will have the following heading in the upper right hand corner:

Cheating Policy
Cheating on school work is viewed as a serious offense by the Team Liberty teachers. Should cheating occur, each instance will be examined carefully, and offenders will experience consequences for their actions. In most cases, the consequences outlined below will be applied; however, because situations regarding cheating vary greatly, there may be times when the punishment will be altered slightly to fit the severity of the situation.
Cheating/copying on homework or daily work:
· zero given on assignment to all guilty parties
· student(s) moved to next disciplinary step
Cheating/copying on major assignments (essays, projects, etc.). This includes copying from another student or plagiarizing from a published work.
· zero given on assignment to all guilty parties
· parent notification and office referral
Cheating on a test or quiz
· zero given on assignment to all guilty parties
· parent notification and office referral
Detention Policy for Team Liberty
1. While serving detention, students will not be allowed to study, talk, read, work on homework, or sleep. Students will sit straight with their hands on the desk.
2. When a student is assigned a detention, his or her teacher will arrange a date. Once the
date is agreed upon, the detention must be served on that day.
3. Arrival time for detention is 3:45, sharp. Students with a 30 minute detention will be
released at 4:15, and students with a 45 minute detention will be released at 4:30.
4. Students must be on time. If a student is late to a scheduled detention (more than 5
minutes late), the detention will be considered a missed detention, and the measures
described below in #5 and #6 will be taken.
5. If a student does not attend a scheduled 30 minute detention, the time will be raised to
45 minutes, and the student’s parents will be notified. A second failure to attend will
result in an office referral.
6. If a student does not attend a scheduled 45 minute detention, an office referral will be
made. Students are not given a second chance on 45 minute detentions because parent
notification will have already occurred prior to the detention.
7. If a student misbehaves during a detention and does not correct his/her behavior
following a warning from the teacher, the student will be asked to leave detention and an
office referral will be written.
8. If a student exhibits extreme behavior during a detention, immediate removal might
occur without a warning. In such an instance, an office referral will be written.
