Welcome to Second Grade!  My name is Phyllis Holt and I have taught second grade for 26 years.  We have lived in College Station for 13 years.  I taught at Rock Prairie and Pebble Creek before coming to Southwood Valley.   We have two grown daughters and two wonderful grandchildren.   Reading is my passion and is a priority in my class!  We explore and travel in our books every day.   Second grade is full of new learning.  We are just beginning to develop those skills of patience as we work together in partners and groups.  We learn to share our ideas and accept new ideas.  By the end of second grade your child will be writing cursive and learning the beginnings of multiplication and division. A must for second grade is learning math facts.  We learn these quickly by using Touch Math at the beginning of the year.  This is a skill that will take us through all of second grade and above.
